This chapter teaches you what is display file (DSPF), how to create a display file using SDA and how to test the display file. Exercises are available at the end of the chapter.

This chapter outlines the basic differences between batch and online programs. It teaches you how to create a RPG online program, how to compile and execute RPG online program. Exercises are available at the end of the chapter.

This chapter discusses how to modify and enhance display file DSPF and RPG program. In this chapter, you will learn how to modify DSPF using SDA and DDS, how to add and update database file in the RPG online program and how to compile and debug RPG online program. Exercises are available at the end of the chapter.

This chapter discusses another record type of display file - subfile record. In this chapter, you will learn step by step how to create a subfile record using SDA. You will also learn how to test subfile record using SDA. Exercises are available at the end of the chapter.

This chapter teaches you how to write an online RPG program using subfile record. In this chapter, you will learn step by step to create a customer information inquiry program using DSPF with subfile record and customer master database file. Exercises are available at the end of the chapter.

This chapter introduces you to the Utility program - Database File Utility(DFU). In this chapter, you will learn how to use DFU to add record to a database file and how to update and delete a record in a database file. You will also learn how to create a DFU program. Exercises are available at the end of the chapter.
