Beginner/Intermediate
This course is designed
to teach new users the concepts about the relational database and the techniques how to
use the Utility program - Query/400, to work with the relational database on iSeries and
AS/400. Upon completion of the training, you should be able to work with AS/400 database
and create your own query/400 report.
This chapter provides an overview of the Query/400, what is Query/400,
what is AS/400 database and DB2/400, what is Query definition and what
you can do with the Query/400. Exercises are available at the end of the
chapter.
This chapter outlines the components and terminology about AS/400 Database
and DB2/400. In this chapter, you will learn about database, file, member,
record and field. Exercises are available at the end of the chapter.
This chapter outlines the common methods on how to start and work with
Query/400. In this chapter, you will learn how to start Query/400, how
to select database files and how to save and run a query definition. Exercises are available at the end of the chapter.
This chapter discusses more input options when working with a query definition.
In this chapter, you will learn how to select field sequence, how to select
record, how to sort input record, how to create new field and how to do
the calculation on each record. Exercises are available at the end of the chapter.
This chapter discusses the output options when working with Query/400. In this chapter, you will learn how to select output type and output form, how to specify report column formatting, how to select record summary and how to define report break. Exercises are available at the end of the chapter.
This chapter covers the Interactive Data Definition Utility (IDDU), a utility
comes with the OS/400. In this chapter, you will learn how to create data
dictionary, how to create field definition and record format, and how to
create a database file. Exercises are available at the end of the chapter.
This chapter introduces you to the advanced query techniques. In this chapter,
you will learn how to create a query definition with joined database files,
how to create report with group totals, and how to create new fields and
new database file. Exercises are available at the end of the chapter.
There are some multiple choice or true or false questions about the topics covered from
chapter 1 through chapter 7 in Query/400 for iSeries and AS/400. The test helps you
understand and review the training. You can take it again after reviewing the training
materials.
This section lists some of the common AS/400 computer terminology as well as general
